Belarus celebrates the Day of the State Flag, Emblem and Anthem. 🇧🇾
12 May 2024 — Today our country celebrates the Day of the State Flag, the State Emblem and the State Anthem of the Republic of Belarus. 🇧🇾
The holiday was established by Presidential Decree No. 157 of 26 March 1998 and is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of May.
In accordance with Article 19 of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, the symbols of our country as a sovereign state are the State Flag, the State Emblem and the State Anthem. They are symbols of historical memory that unite the heroic past, the present and the future of the Belarusian state. They are the most important attributes of sovereignty and independence.
The official standard of the emblem and the Regulation on the flag were approved by the Decree of 7 June 1995 following the results of the national referendum held on 14 May 1995.
On 5 July 2004, the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On the State Symbols of the Republic of Belarus” was adopted, defining their description and the procedure for their use. The latest changes to the image of the State Emblem were approved in January 2021.
On 12 April 2023, the President signed Decree No. 105, changing the holiday’s name from “Day of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus and the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus” to “Day of the State Flag, the State Emblem and the State Anthem of the Republic of Belarus”.
